I'm not liking life at the moment...

Today has been a good day I guess. My lessons went well and I'm currently having the afternoon as Non-Contact Time to do some preparation for the coming weeks.

Mind you, after this week there's only next week until half term! A week's holiday. This time has flown by if I'm honest and I've really enjoyed it. Teaching's definitely what I want to do. Although there's still a plan in the back of my mind to become a journalist at some point... we'll have to see how things go I guess.

Anyway, the reason I'm not liking life is down to my birthday. I'm 22 tomorrow and I'm not sure I'm going to enjoy it. I generally don't like birthdays, the whole passing of time thing I guess - but still, I'm young!

I think the main reason I'm worried about being 22 is that it's such a big year in my life. Or at least it will be if all goes well. This is the year I finish my degree and hopefully end up with a full time teaching job. If all goes to plan. If not, I'll see you in Debenhams for the rest of my life...

I couldn't do that. Working full time over summer's hard enough.

Not the Law and Order bullshit you have all grown so fond of. Not CSI. Not Miami. The real deal. A veteran Chicago homicide detective pours his heart out on Craigslist in the "rants and raves" section, and it is a fascinating read.

"I've doing it for several years. I can think of roughly a dozen cases in the last three years that wrapped up in a nice tidy package. Until this year, the unit I work in averaged about 170 murders a year."

"I always think of a confession as going to a bar and trying to get a beautiful woman who has no interest in you to agree to a one time hook-up. Its really a twisted romance. You talk for hours and hours about meaningless shit, all the time trying to bring the offender back to the murder."

"Never trust a detective who dresses like one of those TV characters".

All's going well with teaching so far. Today is a training day for the staff so I'm in school but just doing work - displays and stuff. It's looking groovy!

Hope you are all well, although I doubt many of you are still reading... but what the hey, I don't mind talking to myself!

"Perhaps not the very first podcast, but certainly the very first podcast by OK Go. Look it up." (10:03)

Hey you lot,

How are you all? Have a good Christmas and a happy New Year? I hope so. I'm amazed at how long it's been since I found the time to write something here.

I'm in school at the moment, teaching full time. I'm enjoying it a lot except for a few of the kids, but hey, all's well really.

I don't have too much to say to be honest. I was just thinking that I hadn't been here a while.

I don't feel I should add to the people talking about the tsunami online. So you won't find my opinions here. I just want to say though that I will provide links to some areas of the internet that are worthwhile looking at in regards to the tsunami.
